ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMISSION
This commission consists of nine regular members
and two alternates. It was formed to advise City Council of future and
current conditions of economic development in the City. The primary purpose
of the commission is to market the economic strength of the City, in order
to provide stability with our existing businesses while encouraging future
development within City limits.
ENVIRONMENTAL
COMMISSION
The Environmental Commission oversees the identification,
preservation, and protection of Somers Point's natural resources. The
Environmental Commission is represented on the Planning Board, and also
on the Great Egg Harbor Wild and Scenic Management Commission.
HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
Meetings will be held at City Hall in the Council Chambers starting at 7:00 PM.

RECREATION COMMISSION
The Recreation Commission oversees the use and development
of recreational programs and facilities within Somers Point. This commission
consists of seven regular members appointed by the Mayor.

PLANNING
BOARD
The Somers Point Planning Board consists of seven
regular members, and two alternates. Professionals to the Board include
an attorney, a consulting engineer, and a zoning officer.
The Planning
Board is authorized to adopt and amend the master plan and development
regulations of the City of Somers Point. A review application submitted
for preliminary and final site plan for all new construction, building
conversions, changes in use and conditional uses. Also, this board reviews
all applications requesting approval for subdivisions, major and minor.
The
meetings of the Planning Board are generally scheduled for the third Wednesday
of each month at 7:00 PM at

ZONING BOARD
OF ADJUSTMENT
The Zoning Board of Adjustment consists of seven
members, and two alternates. Professionals to this Board include an attorney,
consulting engineer, and zoning officer.
The Zoning
Board of Adjustment has the authorization to interpret and construe the
developmental regulations of the City of Somers Point. They may grant
a variance to allow a structure or use in a district where such a use
or structure is not permitted. The Zoning Board of Adjustment has the
power to grant preliminary and final site plan approval whenever the Board
is reviewing an application or approval of a use variance.

of the Zoning Board are generally scheduled for the second Monday of each
